Will the occupation of Ukraine by Russia and the war resulting ever end? Donald Trump did his best to bully Zelensky of Ukraine into surrendering to Russia but Zelensky stood up to Trump and Vance’s bullying. Hooray for Zelensky. He deserves a hero’s medal. There is an old song about a preacher who was treed by a bear. In the song the preacher said, ” Lord, if you can’t help me for goodness sake don’t help that bear”. Since the bear is the symbol of Russia the song becomes appropriate for our discussion. For some reason Trump is reluctant to help Ukraine. But I think he is helping the “bear’
He is spending his time praising Putin, an evil man who has sent hundreds of thousands of young Russian men to die in Ukraine. Further he is firing off missiles and drones to murder and terrorize civilians in Ukraine. He deserves high praise from the President of the United States for that? The old saying is I have your back. Putin has some evil nations to scratch his back including China, North Korea and Iran, among the most corrupt and evil nations on earth. He also has a willing Donald Trump to do some scratching. Putin is having a tough time right now conquering a much smaller nation. He needs the above named back scratchers.
Zelensky has received a lot of criticism that he caused the war by requesting Nato membership from Conservatives as well as Radical Leftists. This is a new wrinkle. Try to do something like protecting your country from aggression from another nation and you get blamed for starting a war. Those who take that position are fools of course. Putin has designs on everything Russia controlled when they were a Communist Country and more besides. Ukraine’s desire to become a member of Nato was not a trigger to Putin, he just acted quickly trying to overpower Ukraine before starting on the former states in Russia’s orbit before setting his sight on Europe.
Is Donald Trump the Neville Chamberlain of this generation? When Adolf Hitler made plans to conquer small nations near Germany, England’s Chamberlain thought if Hitler was appeased, he would be satisfied. How did that work out? History records that Hitler was soon dropping bombs on England. What about Putin? He is just as evil as Hitler. He already threating to attack other smaller nations close to Russia and his close friends in his government are even threating the United States. Putin only understands defeat. Latter Day Russians are using the threat of nuclear war. During the time of Communist Russia’s peak of military power the Communists coined a slogan better red than dead. Communists in the west jumped on that bandwagon. Now the Rjussians are threatening nuclear war. New slogan. Better to be a slave than to die.
Instead of Trump working with Europe to put unbearable pressure on Russia he makes idle threats to Putin that if he does not stop, we will do bad things to Russia even giving him a deadline followed by another deadline. Putin takes a sip of his Vodka and along with his cronies in crime and laugh at Trump. Does Trump even realize he does not have the upper hand in this game. Or as we might say, Trump does not hold any cards that he is willing to play to win.
