Thanksgiving, An Exclusive United States National Holiday

On December 4, 1619 the English held the first Thanksgiving in what was to become the United States. A group of colonists under the direction of Captain Woodlief representing the Berkely Company arrived in what is now the State of Virginia to a place designated as Berkely Hundred. Instructions given to Captain Woodlief were that their arrival in Berkely Hundred must “be yearly and perpetually kept as a day of thanksgiving to God”. Two years later, after the Indians massacred hundreds of colonists, Berkley Hundred was abandoned. The Thanksgiving Event was lost to history until Historians discovered it through research. After the Berkley Thanksgiving Colonists in Massachusetts had a Day of Thanksgiving in Plymouth, Massachusetts in November of 1621, even inviting local Indians to come and celebrate with a meal. In 1863 some people in the Northeast requested that President Abraham Lincoln to declare a Day of Thanksgiving for the United States which he did. It is a National Holiday now celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Whether these people were pride seeking or felt a need to have a day of Thanksgiving to God I do not know, but it has become a beloved day for the people.

One of the reasons Thanksgiving is so beloved as a Holiday is most workers get a paid day off from work. If you work for the government you get Thursday and Friday off giving you a four day weekend. For those living an easy commute from their parents or other relatives it gives them time to visit with family and have a Thanksgiving Feast. It is unfortunate November is the month chosen for this Holiday as it is too close to Christmas. It would be nice if these two holiday days could be six months apart. There is a shrinking number of people who believe in God each year. But there are still a lot of people who celebrate Thanksgiving as a day to give thanks to God. Some families have the tradition of sitting around the table before a thanksgiving Banquet and telling everyone what they are thankful to God for.

I had an early Thanksgiving, and I will share some of the things I am thankful for. I am thankful the Democrats lost the White House and control of the Senate and did not take control of the House. The Democrats have been working to ban any mention of God or Jesus in public schools for years. They have been promoting Godless Communism in schools and government policy which they prefer to call socialism. They have been promoting deviant sexual behavior which is repugnant to Christians. The government under the Democrats has been censuring people who do not agree with leftist dogma and working with the media to do the same.

Donald Trump has his work cut out for him. The Democrats have been spending money like drunken sailors for four years. They created a huge national debt that some do not think can be repaid. If Trump attempts to resolve the massive overspending problem and reduce the deficient the Democrats will fight to the death to stop him. Their allies in the media will come after Trump more viscously than they have in the last eight years. The Democrats supporters who benefit from the money from the Democrats green Raw Deal and other pork barrel operations will be screaming load enough to heard across the country. Trump will also be opposed by Republicans who are Republicans in name only. I am hoping the Republicans will not become the party of abuse by serving themselves instead of the citizens as the Democrats did.

Donald Trump inherited a huge problem from the Democrats illegally allowing millions of illegal immigrants to enter this country causing huge disruptions in our society. Can he send these people back? Democrats claim it would be too costly so they should be given citizenship, totally ignoring the fact that it would cost less to send them home than the freebies they are now receiving from unwilling taxpayers thanks to the Democrats.
